Homeowners often wonder when they should get roofing work done on their residences. After winter snow, ice, and the wind have damaged shingles, but before summer thunderstorms begin to wreak their havoc, roofing companies often have the time available to get to a number of different jobs. Consequently, spring and early summer months can be some the best times to schedule roof repairs or plan to replace the entire roof of a home. A homeowner who needs roof work done near Nashville can call a roofing contractor in Franklin to handle the necessary work.

Experts recommend having roof work done in the winter, spring, or summer because it’s easier for a roofing company to fit the job into their schedule. Late summer and fall are typically the busiest times for roofers, as many homeowners know. Because the weather is often calm during those times, homeowners usually start thinking about roof repair and replacement then. Having roofing work done off-season is beneficial for another reason as well. Roofing materials are generally more expensive because the demand is higher in the busy season. Roofing contractors frequently raise their prices as well because they have to pay for more labor and equipment.

A homeowner looking for an experienced and reliable roofing company needs to ask some questions before hiring the roofer. The length of time a company has been in business is important because of its impact on a roofing warranty. Most roof warranties are for 20 years; but are honored only by the company that installed the roof. A roofing company needs to have proper insurance so any injuries to workers on the job don’t become the homeowner’s insurance nightmare. Employees should be sufficiently trained to repair or replace the roof properly, avoiding problems that could come up weeks, if not months or even years, later.

The H.E. Parmer Company has been a roofing contractor in Franklin and Nashville for over 125 years. The company, which is still owned by the family that started it, stands behind the repair and installation work it does every day. Satisfied customers testify to the prompt service when repairs are needed immediately as well as the professional workmanship of the company’s employees. Russia: Runaway bus kills at least four in entrance to Moscow Metro station

Tuesday, December 26, 2017

Yesterday, at least four were killed and eleven were injured near the Slavyansky Bulvar Metro station in Moscow, Russia, after a bus ran down the steps at the entrance, officials stated. According to an emergency services source reported through state news media, fifteen were injured, and five died in the incident.

The incident happened in an icy situation. The bus drove onto the pavement and down the steps leading to the station. The police reportedly arrested the driver. News agencies reported the driver was not under the influence of alcohol. The driver told investigators the bus suddenly moved, and although he tried to stop it, the brakes did not work. A reported emergency services source said the accident might be due to brake failure.

According to Interfax news agency, the bus was less than a year old. Moscow’s mayor Sergei Sobyanin said he had ordered all Moscow buses to be inspected.

South Downs to get National Park status in UK

Tuesday, March 31, 2009

The South Downs, an area of chalk downland in southern England is to gain National Park status under measures announced earlier today.

In the announcement, Environment Secretary Hillary Benn was quoted as saying “It is fitting that in this year, the 60th anniversary of the radical legislation that gave birth to National Parks, we are celebrating an addition to the family.”

The designation has not been met with approval by some. Nigel Waterson, an MP for nearby Eastbournce, alleges to Channel 4 News that “ministers have ignored the views of almost all local authorities in the area, as well as local people.”

The new park and associated management is expected to be in place in two years’ time.

Yasin Hassan Omar, 24 — suspected of the attempted attack on Warren Street Tube Station — has been arrested by police in Birmingham in a raid yesterday.

After being informed by a member of the public, police — supported by an army bomb disposal team from the Royal Logistic Corps (RLC) — launched a dawn raid at 04:30 am BST on a ground floor flat in Heybarnes Road that Omar was apparently staying in alone. According to the British tabloid newspaper “The Daily Mirror”, Omar allegedly shouted at police to “Get back or I’ll take you with me”.

After a struggle ensued involving, it is believed, a rucksack that police feared was a bomb, Omar was shot in the bathroom by a 50,000-volt taser stun gun that temporarily disabled him. The rucksack was apparently thrown outside the window by police officers.

Around 100 homes were subsequently evacuated as a precautionary measure on the orders of the RLC bomb disposal team. The team then made a controlled explosion of the suspect package.

In a house in nearby Bankdale Road, three men, thought to be Somalis, were arrested and taken to a local police station.

Omar was later taken to Paddington Green, West London, the Metropolitan Police’s only high-security police station.

The flat in Birmingham remained guarded by police while forensic tests continued.

Elsewhere, three women were arrested in Blair House in Stockwell, London in connection with the investigations into the attempted attacks on 21 July.

Early this morning, nine people were arrested under the Terrorism Act 2000 in raids on two houses in Tooting, south London. None are believed to be the three remaining 21 July bombers at large.

Google introduces the ‘+1’ button

On Monday, Google added the “+1” button to its search results. It works similarly to the Facebook “Like” button. Today, Google began planning to add it to text ads, globally known as “AdSense”.

Google Product Manager Nick Radicevic commented at Google’s AdSense blog: “Today, +1’s will start appearing on Google search pages globally. …. We’ll be starting off with sites like google.co.uk, google.de, google.jp and google.fr, then expanding quickly to most other Google search sites soon after.”

Individual websites also can use this feature. People with a Google account can add a “+1” button to their personal websites. If a large number of readers click the button, the site will move closer to the top in Google search results.

Google also plans to eventually add the “+1” button to its text advertisements, globally known as “AdWords”. A user would be able to add rank to an ad and optionally make it available at their Google profile.

Google expects the experiment to be useful to improve search results and to combat poor websites and content farms.

Police have been given seven days to question the suspected terrorist who was arrested in Bristol, United Kingdom today.

After the seven days, the suspect will have to be released or charged, unless an extension is granted.

The BBC has reported that the person who was arrested is approximately nineteen years old. He has been named as Andrew Ibrahim.

A representative of the Bristol Cultural Muslim Society commented on the developments, “We hope the individual concerned is innocent and that this turns out to be a false alarm.”

It has also recently been confirmed by the police that a suspicious object was found at the scene.

He was arrested in Bristol, United Kingdom on suspicion of terrorism earlier today. There was also a controlled explosion. Parts of the city were evacuated.

Avon and Somerset police have also recently said that “It is anticipated that due to the nature of the offences believed to have been committed, work at the scene may take a number of days.”

Rod Hansen, from the police force commented on the arrest. “This has been a large scale operation and we have called upon the expertise and professionalism of staff from CID, Operational Planning, Air Support, the Hi-Tech Crime Unit and our Community Engagement Team to name but a few. It is right that I acknowledge their fine efforts also,” he said

A Wikinews reporter visited the nearest main road, Henleaze Road in the hours after the arrest, to report on the incident. It was noted that there was a significantly higher number of police vehicles in the area, compared to the usual figure.

The Wikinews reporter also noted that there were several reporters gathered around the local police station. A large police van was also noticed outside the police station.
